How to become an author?

By Watthana

Do the terms writer and author mean the same thing?

When we read a book, novel, magazine, or article, if we notice that it usually ends with the Author or Writer,
it probably means the author is the same but there is a difference between the two.
Let’s take a look at how these two words differ.
– A writer is a person who writes but does not own the story and does not write on the subject of his own opinion. He may write based on books or other stories or may be based on assignments.
– Author means the person who writes and owns the idea of the written story, such as creating a plot, writing it yourself, creating your characters, etc. The important thing is that it must be published only to be considered an Author, for example, J.K. Rowling, author of Harry Potter, or Leo Tolstoy, author of War and Peace, who, if his writing is not published, is considered a Writer.

In summary, it is easy to understand as follows:
– Writer is a writer who does not own the idea of writing.
– Author is a writer who owns the idea of a story written and must be published. (If it is not published,
it is considered a Writer.)
– Authors can sue if their work has been copied.

The lessons will be discussed below. It brings experience from a professional writer for over two decades and has been teaching writing for a long time. to pass on to learn and develop writing skills to become a good writer in the future
at every meeting and in every class, many students ask, “How can I be a better writer?”

They usually don’t like my answer. “Practice writing every day. Read to study the writings of others every day.”

They don’t like this answer at all for two reasons:

1. Some people are looking for a quick way or a magic formula to make them good writers in three easy steps. Although my advice is only two steps. But it’s a long-term project.

2. Other people will scoff at first because they think they are. “Real writers” will not like the answer more than others. Because they believe they have a gift that needs to be unlocked with a magic key to publish a book and become a successful writer.

The truth is there is no way you can improve your writing other than continually practicing your craft.

Practice writing every day.

Experiment, plan, review, and review.

Create challenges, set deadlines, drive and compete with yourself.

Write what you get inspired by writers you admire and write your way completely.

Your writing will reward you gracefully, I promise.

Why read to study other people’s writing every day?

Because what you are reading gives you inspiration and confidence. Read on to build your vocabulary and writing techniques. You read on to learn more about the rhythms and patterns of language. You read so that while you write You will be able to develop your unique voice.

Learning to be a better writer is not a weekend job or even just finishing a course.

But learning to be a good writer is life’s work.

If you want to be a good writer you’ll never assume your job is done.

I’ve never met a single professional writer who sat down and said, “I graduated, I’m the best.” Of course, you don’t have to spend your whole life attaining professional status.

But you shouldn’t set that goal. To think in these terms is the carelessness that prevents you from becoming the best writer you can be. For example, perhaps the reason your writing was rejected has nothing to do with your writing. But it could be because of your topic, the publisher’s personal preferences, or even the mood of the editors that day when you submit your work to your desk.

The truth is, you can’t control those things. But you can control the progress of your writing development.

Trust me, the more developed your writing, the better. The more it makes it easier to achieve other goals.

When you get to the point where you can submit quality writing regularly.

You will find marketing channels. If you write it the rest will arrive on their own shortly.
